Telltronics: Hardware Hacks, Gadgets, and Projects
These pages will describes an increasing number of interesting
electronic hardware projects. All are "open source" in that I intend
to provide enough detail for a suitably knowledgable reader to
duplicate them. But no warranty is provded and these aren't Heathkits.
Grabbing the wrong end of a soldering iron can
be painful, and your mileage may vary.
Several more project writeups are in the works.
Devices for DMX-512 digital theatrical lighting and for
home automation are waiting for time to write up a web page.
- "Mini-Rig Power" a lower cost, compact 12VDC power distribution unit using Anderson powerpole connectors.
- A DMX-512 output interface using a PC Parallel Port. My implementation of the open-source lpr2dmx hardware project includes
complete CAD files for the design.
- Custom Home Automation.
When X10 isn't good enough, roll your own RS485 hardwired interfaces.
Just a taste of work in progress, to be written up more completely someday.
- Using a Classic Sun Optical Mouse on a PC.
This writeup demonstrates
that the classic Sun optical mouse actually sends a well-known protocol,
and shows how to adapt its 8-pin mini-din cable to act as a PC serial mouse.
I'm still working on this page, please come back!
